Lufthansa Airlines Carry-on Baggage Policy
Two carry-ons are allowed for first and business-class passengers. Personal items do not count in assistive devices and outer garments.
Following size and weight restrictions on carry-on bags:
- 45 linear inches (55cm x 40cm x 23cm) or 115 centimeters (22in x 16in x 9in) including wheels and handles.
- Put in the available space under the seat in front of you or overhead bin.
NOTE: There is no under-seat storage on Bulkhead seats, therefore, during take-off, all carry-on baggage must be stowed in the overhead bin.

Here is the list of basic regulations that apply to the free baggage allowance on all international flights
- 1 bag up to 23 kg (50lb): Economy Class
- 2 bags up to 23 kg (50lb) each: Premium Economy Class
- 2 bags up to 32 kg (70lb) each: Business Class
- 3 bags up to 32 kg (70lb) each: First Class
International Flights for status customers on free baggage allowance
You are permitted to carry one piece of carry-on luggage while traveling with the Lufthansa economy light product. A piece of checked baggage can be added to your booking for a fee. Still, there is no charge for baggage allowance.

- 2 bags up to 23 kg (50 lb): Economy Class
- 2 bags up to 23 kg (50 lb) each: Premium Economy Class
- 2 bags up to 32 kg (70 lb) each: Business Class

There is no cost for baggage if you are traveling within Europe followed by as-per-Europe fare options:
- 1 piece of carry-on baggage up to 8 kg only: Economy Light
- 1 piece of carry-on baggage up to 8 kg; 1 bag up to 23 kg: Economy Classic
- 2 pieces of carry-on baggage up to 8 kg; 2 bags up to 32 kg: Business Class

Dimension on Free Baggage
158cm (width + height + depth) is the maximum size per piece of baggage. Items will be not permitted if the weight or dimensions exceed the limit and charges will be applied if they weigh more than 32 kg and will be transported by air freight.
On baby baskets and pushchairs, Lufthansa does not charge, free transport for disabled and ticket holders with the facility of wheelchairs or other mobility aids to their free baggage allowance.
Lufthansa Airlines Overweight Baggage Fee
if the bags are heavier than the free baggage allowance (24 – 32 kg): 50 euro/ USD 70 within Europe/ between other countries and 100 euro/ USD 150 on intercontinental flights.
Lufthansa Airlines Excess and Oversize Baggage Fee
Economy and Premium Economy Class
USD 300 on international flights/ 200 euros between other countries / USD 150 within Europe/ 100 euros: Larger than Free Baggage Allowance (from 159 cm)
USD 450 on international flights/ 300 euros between other countries/ USD 220 within Europe/ 150 euro: Larger and heavier than free baggage allowance (24 – 32 kg and from 159cm)
Business and First Class
USD 300 on international flights/ 200 euros between other countries / USD 150 within Europe/ 100 euros: Larger than free baggage allowance (from 159 cm)
Lufthansa Airlines Sports Equipment Fee
As part of your allowed free baggage allotment, sports baggage is carried free of charge. Sports luggage needs to be registered via the reservation hotline up to 24 hours before the departure.
You are allowed to bring one item of complimentary ski or snowboard equipment on your Lufthansa trip in addition to your free baggage allotment. Any additional ski or snowboard equipment must not exceed the weight restrictions of the travel class you have reserved. Note that only flights run by Lufthansa are covered by the provision.
Due to restricted space and varying policies on partner flights, Lufthansa is unable to ensure that, at the time of booking, your ski luggage will always be allowed. Regardless of whether your ski bag is being checked in as extra baggage or falls within your free baggage allowance, please register it via the reservation hotline at least 24 hours before departure.
CPAP Devices
Assistive devices with batteries are accepted by Lufthansa both in the cabin and as checked baggage. CPAP machines are examples of battery-operated assistive equipment. When utilizing personal respirators or ventilators that have been certified by the FAA, qualifying individuals with disabilities are permitted by Lufthansa to bring their equipment, including non-spillable batteries, onboard the aircraft. You need to have enough battery life to fly for 150% of the total time.
